Main Responsabilities
Provides daily supervision of administrative and technical issues involving a functional group of engineers and engineering support personnel. This supervisory position provides work direction concerning cost, quality, safety, environmental and schedule of engineering work or projects to a small to medium group of up to eight direct reports in either Manufacturing or Materials Engineering. Work at this level typically involves one or more competency or discipline across a small to large portion of a product or manufacturing process. Responsibilities may include working outside functional or contract group, leading small to medium sized cross-functional teams, and providing work direction to lower level Manufacturing Engineering supervisors.
What Skills You Need
- Contribute to the design of engineering solutions; design the feasibility testing approach and supervise its implementation to support the development and validation of engineering solutions.
- Contribute to the analysis of information and the specification of the methods and process steps, as well as the plant, machinery, and equipment, required to design and continuously improve manufacturing or materials processes and process systems to deliver the end product within specified cost and quality parameters.
- Carry out inspections to evaluate the quality of engineering works and/or the integrity of existing installations or structures, and specify the remedial works needed to ensure conformance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to the analysis of information, the drafting of engineering standards and specifications, and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards within own engineering discipline to inform engineering work in the organization and/or of its suppliers, contractors, and consultants.
- Communicate the local action plan; explain how this relates to the function's strategy and action plan and to the broader organization's mission and vision; motivate people to achieve local business goals.
- Provide operational support services and sometimes act as first-line supervisor of a transactional operations area. Involves using existing systems and protocols.
- Help others get the most out of internal communications systems by offering support and advice.
- Respond to personal objectives and use performance management systems to improve personal performance; or monitor the performance of the team, allocate work and review completion, take appropriate corrective action to ensure timeliness and quality, and contribute to formal individual performance management and appraisal.
- Provide coaching to team members to develop their skills.
What Makes You Stand Out
- Engineering experience. (4 - 7 years)
- Experience in one or more related engineering areas: industrial, production, methods, reliability, design, manufacturing, warehousing and distribution, quality. (4 - 7 years)
- Experience in planning, organizing, and implementing engineering projects. (4 - 7 years)
- Experience with engineering tools, systems and databases. (4 - 7 years)
