Your Responsibilities

As a Senior Systems Engineer specializing in Communications at John Deere ISG, you will have the opportunity to work in Urbandale, IA, with additional location options in Silvis, IL; Fargo, ND; Waterloo, IA; or Cary, NC... you will….

  • Be an expert in network system design representing strategy, capabilities and methods across the enterprise.
  • Be accountable for achieving an effective network systems design process and toolchain that meets consumer needs for quality, capability, usability and efficiency.
  • Perform systems engineering to provide scope, definition and design for capabilities.  Work with solution teams to deliver, integrate and validate new capabilities and toolchain components.
  • Align with industry standards and enterprise stakeholders to develop technology roadmaps in support of the communication strategy.
  • Lead Networking CoP and expert teams, maintain interface with Product Teams to align needs with technology and capabilities and leverage common methods across the enterprise.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert and POC for network communication design. As a subject matter expert, teach and mentor development teams in network systems engineering principles and application.
  • Champion the use of systems engineering methods and tools to ensure a robust and documented design and implementation.

What Skills You Need

  • Five or more years embedded software development experience with expert knowledge of methods for design, development and verification of application software.
  • Four or more years working with embedded vehicle electrical system design, architectures, embedded components and network interfaces.  Has high knowledge of machine systems and electronic functions.
  • Three or more years demonstrated experience leading engineering design efforts and collaborating successfully with diverse functional groups and engineering teams.
  • Three or more years of experience with design, implementation and verification of vehicle communication networks, specifically CAN/CANFD/LIN protocols.
  • Willing and able to lead change, influence without authority, and communicate effectively up, down and across the organization

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Deep technical knowledge and experience with networks design including standards, protocols, communication stacks, analysis tools, verification/validation methods.
  • Experience with design and implementation of Ethernet communication protocols, components and networks.
  • Systems Engineering education, training or demonstrated capability

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science or other related discipline with experience
